Flicker and Faint

I come out from under a rock
Squinting at first light
And I walk off the beaten path
All day searching and feeling
Taking life in with a lung full
And life as I know it just took a nose dive
30 feet below the surface

The sun flickers and faints
When you're not next to me
I don't stomach the glowing city lights
And there is no color if there's no light
